We recover in A.A. by taking the Steps, and if
we don't take the action as described in our basic text book,
we may not recover. These "Study and Action" sessions
will guide you through the Steps precisely as the first 100 men
and women laid them down. These are back to the basics sessions
- "accepting the simple kit of spiritual tools" that
has been laid at our feet. We use a dictionary
published in 1934 to find the meaning of the directions in the
book Alcoholics Anonymous.
Dick C. and Mary C. along with their good friends and fellow travelers Mike D, Jim D, Anne D, Dave F, Bruce L, Jeff M, Andy P, Steve H, Chris F, and Sissy L, have led hundreds of participants through the 12 Steps in these "Study and Action" Groups since 1995. These sessions are modeled after similar groups begun in 1975 in Denver, Colorado and in the 1950's in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
These are not your typical "thanks for sharing"
kind of sessions. Nor are the "Study and Action" downloads
a seminar, workshop or roundup. These sessions will take the
participant through the instructions for the Twelve Steps exactly
as given to us by those who have gone before, unfettered and
unchanged.
We feel that these sessions have two purposes.
First, they will be particularly valuable to those who have been
through some sort of treatment or rehab and have been, in effect,
left off at Step Three or Step Five or wherever. Recovery requires
that we do all twelve Steps.
Second, these sessions are an effective "boot
camp" for A.A. sponsors who need help in working with newcomers.
